Toi

renowned for baby clothes; a niche thought to be the origin of the name ie
toy/baby for “Toi”
Being a
baby clothes market, expectant mothers are the largest number of customers expressing
interest in visiting the Toi Market. Mothers in all trimesters of pregnancy visit
the market to buy fancy but inexpensive stuff for their on-coming newborns. Infant clothes at the market range from
t-shirts, vests, sweaters, tiny socks, shawls, dresses, bibs, Nappy-liners etc.
Toi Market Evolution
However,
due to its growing popularity, among the young and classy people in town, other
traders selling adult “mitumba” clothes have also invaded the market. What used
to be an exclusive baby-clothing market is now turning out to have a balance
between both sexes and all ages groups. In connection to the pioneer buyers,
there are traders who exclusively sell “mother dresses” or “dress tops” that can
be comfortably and acceptably worn during pregnancy. Other Pregnancy -Wear clothing such as
ballerina shoes, loose linen trousers and ordinary maternity dresses are also common.
Besides
everything about the mother and the baby, jeans lovers will also immensely fall
in love with the wide selection of second-hand untamed jeans. There is also an
entire “area” reserved for traders selling decent leather outfits which include
jackets for both ladies and gents. Leather pants/ overalls suitable for
motorbike riders can also be found in the mix.
Other Items Selling at Toi Market
When you
go to toi Market, pioneer traders will tell you how the market has evolved with
time. Set aside also is a section for Fresh Fruits and Vegetables, Footwear,
Mali mali items etc.
Not So cheap After All
Traders are
taking advantage of the high popularity associated with the market. What was
known as a thrift market for consumers have actually untouchable items. So if
you are planning to go Toi Market with the conception of a thrift budget, you
will be surprised. Instead just visit the open air market near you which will
