How to Pay your DSTV and GoTv Subscription in Kenya

Did you just realize your DSTV subscription has expired and the DSTV guys on the other side has already “switched  off”  your viewing. You cannot catch that premier league match on Super sport nor that Blockbuster movie in Sony Entertainment, or even that documentary on National Geographic and Discovery World? Relax; it is now easier to pay for your DSTv Subscription right from your coach.

Multichoice Kenya; the franchise that runs DSTV in Kenya has made it easier for DSTv and GoTv customers to use mobile phone money transfer platforms to pay their bills. Safaricom- M-pesa, Orange-Money and Airtel-Zap are the current mobile service providers who have partnered with Multichoice to enable mobile phone users pay their DStV and GOTV subscriptions. Follow the following steps for each service provider above.

 

Safaricom M-pesa DSTv & GoTv Payments

Ensure the Decoder is at Channel 114 before starting the M-Pesa transaction

• ·         Visit the M-pesa menu on your phone
• ·         Select the “Pay bill” Option
• ·         Write the DSTv the M-pesa Business Number ie 444900
• ·         Enter your DSTV Account number; not to be confused with the Smart Card Number.
• ·         Enter the amount according to your Subscription Bouquet
• ·         Complete the transaction by entering your M-pesa pin.

You will receive a SMS confirming the payments. Dstv will go live within an hour making the payment.  But often, it only takes a few minutes.

Airtel Money DSTv & GoTv Payments

Ensure the Decoder is at Channel 114 before starting the Airtel Money transaction

·         Visit the Zap Menu on your phone

• ·         Select the “Money” option
• ·         Select “ To Nickname” menu and enter the term “DStv”
• ·         Enter the amount according to your subscription Bouquet
• ·         Put your Zap password and at the reference option, put your 8-digit DStv account number ie not to be consumed with the Smart Card number

You will receive a confirmation message and your subscription will be live within an hour or in a few minute as is usually he case.

Orange Money DSTv & GoTv Payments

·         From your Orange menu on your phone, select “Orange” then “Orange Money”

• ·         Choose the “Payements” option followed by the “Pay Bill” Option
• ·         Enter the DStv Business number ie 444900
• ·         On the “Bill Reference” prompt, enter your DStv Account number ie not the smart card number
• ·         Enter the amount of you’re a bouquet
• ·         Complete the transaction by entering your Orange money pin

You will receive a confirmation of the payments and your subscription will be renewed within minutes or to a max of 1 hour.

Driving And Matatu Directions to the Nairobi National Park.

You maybe dead-bored and just want to get busy before the sun goes down. One good proven (by me) Ideas to kill time in the city is to visit the Nairobi National Park which also plays host to Nairobi Safari
Walk and Nairobi Animal Orphange. But you may be wondering how the heck will I get there. OK, here are simple driving and public transport directions to the Nairobi National Park.

Matatus to Nairobi National Park/Animal Orphanage

I am assuming you definitely know how to get to Nairobi CBD from your estate. The tussle may be where and which matatu to pick to take you the the park. Once in town, go to the Bus Station; famously known as "BS". BS is conveniently located off Tom Mboya Street, near the merge with Haile Selassie Avenue. The most notabel physical item is the Afya Centre, the only green High rising buidling in the city.
At BS, pick matatu number 15; those ones that go to Langata and St.Marys Mission Hospital. You might want to ensure they will use the outer Langata Road as opposed to those that cruise inside the Langata estate and might land you in a much further place where you will further need to walk to the gate.
An even better option is taking the Matatus/buses plying the Ongata Rongai route 123/126. These can be picked at the Railways Bus Station. Railways is just at the roundabout of Moi Avenue and Haile Selassie Ave. The advantage of the route 123/126 matatus is that they will drop you right infront of the Nairobi National Park. However, you might pay more especially if the matatu is charging standard fare for all stops along the route.

Driving to Nairobi National Park

If you will be driving, I also presume you know how to get to town. From the CBD, take Uhuru Highway and drive to the Mombasa direction. At the Nyayo Stadium Roundabout, take the Langata Road route and drive up straight. The park gate will be found on your left about about 8km from the Nyayo Stadium Roundabout. Lets Visit The Nairobi National Park

Are you bored in the house, alone or with friends and family and have no idea how to kill the boredom? Do you reside around Nairobi; or even the wider Nairobi Area?. Let me show you how you will manage to fly some time away from your boring day......Lets visit the Nairobi National Park.

This Sunday afternoon was a boring one; we got stuck with a sick cousin who had broken his hand badly in a playing spree. So we are all sited in the familys’ living room, just looking at him and wondering what to say next because we have given him enough sympathies and he dont wanna hear any more of it!! Then an idea comes….why don’t we visit the Nairobi National Park which happens to be just less than 1 KM from their house. Funny as it may sound; they live in Langata Ngei Phase II Estate, near the Langata Cemetery and they have never visited Nairobi National Park. 
Close as it is i.e. less than a KM, most us in the house who had come to pay a “get well quick visit” to the boy had not ever bothered to know what happens in that part of the city.  Since it’s a walking distance, we decide no cars…..and we take the short walk across Langata Cemetery to the Nairobi National Park Gate.

The Park

The Nairobi National Park is located just about 10KM from the city center and is a 15min drive from the city. Even with a bad traffic day; it would not take you more than 1 hour to hit the park.  Inside the park, there are four major places to visit; but we only visited the animal orphanage and the Rangers Restaurant.

The Animal Orphanage

The animal orphanage consists of animals that have been rescued from various parks, reserves or forests across the country. Usually, these are baby animals whose parents have died of diseases or have been predated upon or poached. These "baby" animals are brought to the orphanage to join other orphaned animals. Once in the park,they are fed with relevant meals and are assigned to caretakers who groom their cages and do general monitoring. The animal orphanage is the perfect place to see a wide variety of animals at close range in their locked-up cages. You may get to see Lions, Hyenas, Cheetahs, Leopards, Crocodiles, Buffalos, Impalas and a wide range of monkey & baboon families.

Park Entry Charges for Nairobi Animal Orphanage

Park entry fees is not an excuse for not visiting the world’s only closest National Park to a Capital City! The charges are affordable; Kes 150 for adult citizens and East Africans and Kes 100 for children.  Non-citizens and Non-East Africans pay $50 as park Entry fees.You must produce proof of identification with either a passport or national ID before entry.

Rangers Restaurant

After visiting the park, we enjoyed a handy glass of cocktail juice at the KWS Three-Star Rangers Restaurant. The restaurant is strategically situated to overlook the open park. From here you can view small monkey families which come as close to the refreshment tables as possible. They may even snatch a banana from your mouth if you are not careful!!
